Week 2 has been amazing, first seeing improvements in my push ups, and now in my shoulders too!! It's so important to celebrate the little wins. We shouldn't focus on the actual losing of weight, our weight changes so much based on what we've eaten, drank, what exercise we've done or if we've had a lazy day. I'm glad this year I'm focusing on my calisthenics and small wins! It's helping me stay...

    Lol ...Just at looking at them from the other side of the screen 🤳🏻 I could tell they would be flops. It must be hard to find "waterproof,insulated and anti-slip boots" that don't cost an arm and a leg. I live in the northeast US ,our cold season is just around the corner ,so I'm on the hunt for a good boot myself.I picked out the Xero alpine winter boot a week ago off amazon "$164.99 USD" not cheap ...Time will tell if they are any good but hopefully I didn't waste my money. I'm eyeing the Vivo barefoot magna forest esc but its ridiculously expensive ..over $200 usd.😮‍💨

    I'm so happy you posted, I've been going through a bit of a rut with youtube videos and had a bit of a breakdown today because I've been working out two/three times a week for over six months (with breaks in between but preeetty consistently) and I've not lost any weight. The scale at the gym says I've gained muscle and lost fat, though. But it's hard to keep that in mind and not to feel like an abject failure, especially when my primary goal was to get fit! Your pictures really helped show me what it can mean to 'only lose 2kg' because damn those were some impressive differences imo. I really need tog et my head straight 🥲

    • @ashjvlogs
      @ashjvlogs 10 днів тому

      Sending hugs 🫂 it's a hard thing to overcome, because there are so many factors that contribute towards weight. It's why I'm currently not focusing on the scale number at all. I'm pretending it doesn't exist. Best way to monitor your progress is before and after photos, but also how you feel. Do you feel more energetic? Maybe you no longer get tired just walking up stairs, maybe you can even run up stairs now? Can you walk longer? Lift heavier weights? Do exercises you couldn't do before? Look for the little goals that aren't focused on a number that only tells you how much gravity is pulling you towards the Earth that day 💕

    Cut your carbs, Ash (this includes sugar in its various insidious forms, masked and disguised through its vast nomenclature). Joint pain and back pain will disappear. No amount of exercise will help, nor is it sustainable, until you begin ( = one begins) to address hormonal imbalance. Improved metabolic health is key.

      The idea that people who are overweight who want to lose weight haven't tried this, and other diets or "nutrition hacks" is laughable. Most heavier people probably know more about nutrition and is likely they actually lead a consistently healthier lives (despite what they might believe about themselves).

    I think you are very brave for wanting to start a Japanese channel! I think I never would because I would be too embarrassed. If you could reach a Japanese speaking audience, that would be so great for your learning process. But I also think it might be more beneficial to find a couple of language exchange partners somewhere, on Tandem for example, and practice together, so that you would get actual feedback and someone to correct you as you speak, so that you won't stick to incorrect patterns or something like that. I think apart from not having enough sleep, you just have A LOT on your plate, so that might contribute to binge urges as well... Like BSL, Japanese, voice-over, editing, different strength training programs, walking dogs, and that big project you mentioned... It's a lot. So don't be too hard on yourself, please! You got this! If the weight loss videos would in any way relate to the theme of the channel, then it would be a shame to waste them. But if your new channel has nothing to do with fitness and weightless, it would attract the wrong audience. Have a think about if the videos would benefit the channel or steer it in a direction you didn't want to go in and go from there.

    • @ElizabethStanishevska
      @ElizabethStanishevska 2 місяці тому

      @@ashjvlogs It’s going to be about weight loss again. The thing is that I’ve already had the wrong audience…The majority of my subscribers (like a solid 98%) came from a video that youtube mistakenly categorized as a sort of _O_F_ content (I was trying on my old clothes that don’t fit me anymore in that video) and it attracted a lot of creeps. The stuff I’ve seen in my ‘Content suggesting this video’ is absolutely stunning in a very bad way. It’s been over a year since that video, but UA-cam was still trying to push all my new videos after very questionable content, and it was messing with my head a lot. Like, if I lose weight, I want to put a before and after on a thumbnail without fearing the creeps will flow again asking inappropriate things. I’m also just plain boring. English isn’t my native language, so I sound weird, and on top of that, I wasn’t making much weight loss progress, so since that video, I’ve never had any engagement, basically. No likes, no comments (apart from one person), and AVD was never higher than 20%. So I just want to start fresh and either confirm to myself that I’m boring and unrelatable or see where it could get me because I do plan to lose weight and possibly inspire someone to succeed as well! I’m not ranting, just thought such an experience might be interesting to you as a youtuber. Anyways, I tried to be as vague as possible with expressions to not mess up your algorithm! Feel free to delete the message

      @ashjvlogs 2 місяці тому

       @ElizabethStanishevska If it's about weight loss, no point in letting the 2024 videos go to waste. May as well use them to get the channel going and give yourself time to work on newer content. That's basically what I did. Unfortunately I know what you mean about attracting the wrong audience. One of my videos on TikTok did the same. It was just a video of me doing push ups and shoulder pulls, that's all! but because I was very warm and was only wearing a sports bra, which is a valid form of exercise gear, it attracted people that left some pretty similar comments that I'm sure you've had. And I was getting a lot of messages from guys asking if I was single like TikTok is some kind of dating site. I've not posted on there for a while because of it, and think I talk about it briefly in one of my later vlogs. Truth is, the downside of any social media platform is, it's public, and unfortunately that means everyone can see it. And unfortunately when that kind of audience finds it, it's difficult to get them to go away. I've just got to a point I ignore the comments and delete any messages with those kind of intents. Unfortunately they always pop up from time to time, but hopefully you'll grow a better more supportive following who can support you before that happens. No one is boring. The only person who believes that is the person themselves. There is vloggers on this platform, with hundreds of thousands of views of them cleaning their kitchen, doing their laundry, making the bed, or just sitting and talking to a camera about anything for 20 minutes straight. Heck look at this video, to me this video is boring because I'm talking a lot, but people are always telling me how they can relate to me, how I inspire and motivate them. What seems boring to you, may not be boring to others, or can become less boring with some camera angles and video editing. There's also multiple channels with people who have English as a 2nd, 3rd, or even 4th language and their pronunciation is terrible. But guess what! no one cares! they still get 10k, 20k, 50k views on their videos because they're real people that others can relate to. Don't let your accent or level of a language put you down! The fact you put the effort in to learn the language to a conversational level is a massive achievement!!! Majority of the world population can only speak 1 language, so you're already in the top 10% or maybe even 5%. Use your skill to reach a wider audience. I wish you'd tell me the name of your channel, even just in a private message on UA-cam so I can support you like you've been supporting my channel. I'd love to support your journey! As for weight loss, I'll let you in on an update. I'm currently in week 24, I'm still around the 104kg mark. My weight hasn't really changed. But my figure has! my strength has! my endurance has!! my stamina has! and my self confidence and overall health has improved!! Progress isn't just in your weight! it's in so many other things! and people notice and rejoice in those little achievements with you, just like you celebrated the fact I got stronger in just my 2nd week. You can still inspire someone even if there isn't much change. And don't worry, my average duration watch rate is around 7% at the moment 🤣🤣 Don't worry I know it wasn't a rant. Sometimes we just need to get some thoughts out to relieve some stress or emotion that's worrying us or weighing us down, and that's perfectly ok :) I'm more glad you felt comfortable enough to open up about your thoughts and feelings. And it's definitely an interesting thing, and something I know many UA-camrs, including myself have gone through, experienced or worried about. And I have no intention of deleting the message. As who knows, maybe someone else will relate to it too, and find both your message and maybe this response helpful in some way. x

      @@ashjvlogs Wow, I guess I missed you talking about your TikTok experience. Thank you for sharing it in your reply! You’re right that thinking you’re boring is just your perception of yourself, and I also believe that thinking that way is very self-destructive. Unfortunately, I can’t overcome it (hopefully yet!) I follow a lot of other people’s weight loss or fitness journeys, but I guess yours is the one I’m most interested in, even though my mindset is currently more set to a weight loss mode rather than a fitness mode. I also REALLY like the fact that you don’t use chatgpt in your replies to the comments. I couldn’t believe some people don’t think it actually shows. I mean, there are some standard phrases showing politeness, like ‘thank you for your encouragement,’ that both a real person and an AI would use, but when you sit, watch a video, take time to encourage a creator, and get a full chatgpt response, that’s like, why would you do that? I bet your strength improvement is mind blowing at this point! It is definitely motivating to see others’ progress (and even struggles, because that’s relatable). I do hope more people will flow to your channel, and you can build a strong fitness community because a) you’re an inspiration for putting in the effort to improve yourself and b) you’re very thoughtful when it comes to replying to people! I’m starting to sound too cheesy, so mwah 💜

      @@ElizabethStanishevska You've not missed it, It's in my week 3 or 4 vlog. That train of thought is very self-destructive. It's essentially a form of imposter syndrome. But I feel anyone chasing a goal has a battle with imposter syndrome at some point. The question is are you prepared to fight the battle, or let it win. It's not something you'll ever overcome. But the more you fight it and change your thought process, the easier the battle gets. Even I struggle with it, and nearly didn't post anything at all because of it. But I didn't want others, or my own inner demons to affect how I choose to live my life. I follow some other journeys, and mostly female calisthenics channels, of which there is surprisingly few! As seeing others achieve what I'm trying to achieve gives me motivation. And those going through the same journey as me, weirdly makes me feel like we're doing it together. And that feeling of doing it with someone, helps me stay motivated. I can confidently say I've never used ChatGPT! I wouldn't even know how to use it but i personally see using AI to do stuff for you is a form of cheating. It's fake and unrelatable. I can understand how it may help many people that are shy or not sure what to say, but I've also known too many people to use it to simply be lazy to get money. I don't like it. I'm also more gobsmacked that people would use it for something as simple as a reponse or a comment. My strength has improved but I personally wouldn't call it mind blowing, but you'll see why in later vlogs. I've definitely had a few struggles and things affecting my progress, but I'll talk about that in week 22/23. And thank you! I just hope my videos encourage even just 1 person to simply start and try do something they were too scared to do, or follow a dream they were once too scared to chase, thinking it was an impossible goal. When in reality, the only impossibility is in our own beliefs of our capabilities. I also hope your new channel attracts the kind of people you want too. Good luck!!!!

    You've got this! I also recently had a mental setback when I weighed myself at the gym (been going for 5 months) and had no weight change whatsoever. BUT the gym's scales have a measuring system for body fat and muscle mass and I've gained some muscle mass and lost some fat, so the progress is there, even if it doesn't look or feel like it! I've only had minor changes in physique, but I think things might ramp up now 🥰

      Fingers crossed for you!! I've got to a point I'm nervous of weighing myself cause I know what effect it'll have on my mentality just because of a number. Wish I had a machine to tell me what's going in internally too.

      @@ashjvlogs Thanks!! Yep same here. Took me out for two days after checking last. Pre joining the gym I hadn't weighed myself for about a year and I didn't even look when I joined. I have about 25-30kg to lose, but like you I'm trying not to focus on the numbers. It's really about just getting moving and trying. Also getting in a better mental headspace. The past years have been so stressful, and I'm slowly coming out of that. Hoping my body can learn to heal now ☺ Hoping the best for you!

      Hoping for the best for you too 🤞🤞 I'm the same aim, ignore the scales and just get moving/just try. Especially in regards to being in a better mental headspace. I had to take a week break recently because I burnt myself out with work and saying yes to too many other things. But I'm back at it from today. And focusing on self care.

      It certainly feels that way. Always something else that needs fixing.

    I haven’t had time to watch any K or J dramas for almost half a year! I usually watch K dramas on Netflix with Japanese dubs to practice, and it’s so sad when it’s an old drama (like Descendants of the Sun, for example) and there’s no Japanese dub! 😭 I had a strong desire to watch Marry My Husband but a) it’s not on Netflix, and b) I can’t justify watching it in Korean because it would feel like a waste of time...Vincenzo in Japanese is just one love 😍 I have a small suggestion regarding your thumbnails, if that’s okay. In ‘Getting Fit at 35,’ the ‘35’ part is almost always hidden behind the video duration in the bottom right corner. There’s a thumbnail previewer where you can check if everything looks nice. Sorry for putting in my 5 cents. Maybe hiding the ‘35’ part is part of your original idea to grab attention like ‘Getting fit at what?’ But if not, definitely check out the ‘thumbnailpreview’ site 💜

      Ooooh I'll give Vincenzo a try sometime. And love the idea of watching g them in Japanese dub. I didn't even consider that!! And thank you for the input!! I'll move it to the left in future thumbnails!

    I'm also an emotional eater 😞 Started losing weight again this year since late February, but recent life events have put me off track again with emotional/comfort eating and stuff...I moved to a new place in February and it felt like life was finally going to take a better turn, but my mum's brother started threatening to take the house away from us (legally it's ours), but since everything is possible in Ukraine if you bribe the right people with the right amount of money, I'm very VERY stressed. I'm also behind on editing. Have footage to edit but don't have the time (and now mental strength). I just published a video where I was so confident about my weight loss that I promised myself I would lose 33 kg by my 33rd birthday (we're almost the same age 😇 and I think similar body types), but recent emotional eating episode has put me so far away from this goal, that I feel like a joke again 🤷‍♀ Sorry for venting. It's nice how supportive your partner is! I'm also rooting for you on your journey 💜

      Feel free to vent, we need it sometimes. And you're not alone in the emotional eating this week, I fell off track with mine the last few weeks, granted my stresses haven't been anywhere near as bad as yours. I hope you're ok!! You're still doing amazing!! Old habits will creep in from time to time. Spoiler, I have only lost 1kg since the start of Jan. But weight isn't whats important. How much stronger are you, how much more energy and stamina do you have? Is it easier to walk down the road, maybe you no longer get breathless going up the stairs. Weight will always be a battle for people with eating difficulties or disorders. But if you can catch yourself doing it, find the reason you're doing it, then you can slow it down or stop it in its tracks. Find yourself reaching for your comfort food, try stop, listen to a happy song, watch an uplifting movie, and ask yourself "will this help me towards my goal, or sabotage it temporarily?" And see if that helps you. For me I was burning myself out again, once I realised, gave myself some rest days and days off, said no to a couple of times people wanted me to go out, I felt better, and the urge to comfort eat stopped. You can do this!! Its ok! Binge eating and comfort eating are coping mechanisms in times of stress and worry which is exactly what you're going through. While it doesn't help towards our goal, let it be an indicator that something else in your life is wrong that you need to fix first. I hope everything goes OK with the house, I can't even begin to imagine how bad it is over in Ukraine right now. I'll be cheering you on the whole time 🙌🤞 You can do this!! You are amazing! As someone said to me on here, we're in a marathon, not a sprint. It's also harder to lose weight at our age so be kind to yourself ❤️ you will succeed, just take 1 day at a time ✨️
